Prison rape

Prison rape is rape in prison. We normally refer only to the rape of male prisoners by other male prisoners, for sexual abuse of male prisoners by guards seems to be negligibly rare (though they certainly commit other kinds of abuse) and women's prisons are quite different.

Prison rape, then, is probably as old as prisons, and many people (consciously or not) justify its existence by the belief that prisoners deserve to be raped. Masculists near-unanimously reject this; they point out that no one believes this about female prisoners, that no one deserves such cruelty, that prisoners' likelihood of being raped is pretty much unrelated the seriousness of their offence (if guilty at all), and that the rape spreads diseases such of AIDS that no one should be sentenced to.

For that reason prison rape can be considered an example of misandry in our society.
