Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin was the 2008 candidate for vice-president on the Republican (losing) ticket. She was obviously picked because of her sex, but was somewhat striking because she was a woman that seemed to stand for 'traditional' values as against feminist values.
Some of us though she was a great thing because she attracted more political support for something tangentially related to our cause; yet other pointed out that this was largely a mirage. In addition, it is questionable whether we should ever back a woman for an important political office, and regardless of her sex she was completely unqualified, both in the sense of formal experience and in that of talent.
